Realist Methodology Online Tutoring and Education (ReMOTE) Workshop:

Introduction to Realist Evaluation and Synthesis

Delivered by:
Justin Jagosh, Ph.D
Director, Centre for Advancement in Realist Evaluation and Synthesis (CARES)

Realist inquiry is about 'what works, for whom, under what circumstances, and how.' This workshop will assist participants in understanding the basic concepts of the approach including 'realist programme theory', 'middle-range theory' and the 'context-mechanism-outcome' configuration. This workshop will provide a view to conducting a realist project, point participants to key readings, and focus on understanding the process, benefits, and challenges inherent to the approach. The workshop will explain how the realist approach is different from other paradigms and will include preparatory reading as well as a practical workshop exercise.

There is an option for a follow-up consultation session one week following the workshop. Please see instructions below.

Participants can register for either the training workshop + consultation* (£225) or training workshop only (£140).

*Consultation is an optional private 45 minute guidance session to be scheduled one week after the training workshop. For that session, the participant may submit questions about applying the workshop material to their research projects and will receive feedback. Please note that there are only three spaces for consultation for each on-line workshop, and participants registered for consultation will receive an appointment time within the scheduled time listed below.

The workshop is open to anyone. Participants new to realist methodology can view the following video for an introductory overview in advance of the workshop:
