This 2-day workshop is an advanced course on Realist Synthesis suitable for people planning and working on applying realist principles to literature review. A range of topics will be covered in the workshop including:

-How to establish programme and middle-range theories suitable for literature review;
-How to guide decisions about the scope of the review and range of data sources to be included;
-How to read and code papers;
-How to use data sources to construct context-mechanism-outcome configurations;
-How to establish a rigorous, transparent and retroductive line of analysis;
-How to conduct a rapid realist synthesis
-How to use realist synthesis to develop programme theories in advance of a realist evaluation;
-How to convey findings from a Realist Synthesis

There will be time for participants to discuss on-going questions and challenges, as well as networking. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
