The Realist Evaluation Masterclass is a three-day training course for understanding and applying realist evaluation methodology to research projects. Comprising 18 hours of training, the programme will include a range of activities including didactic sessions, practical exercises and one-to-one consultations. There are no pre-requisites for this course. However upon registration, participants will be provided with recommended readings for preparation.
The workshop will address the following topics:
How to establish programme and middle-range theories suitable for realist evaluation
How to integrate qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods evidence in realist analysis
How to create interview guides and conduct realist qualitative interviews
How to engage stakeholders and host stakeholder consultations meetings
How to construct realist surveys and realist economic assessments
How to use data sources to construct context-mechanism-outcome configurations
How to establish a rigorous, transparent and retroductive line of analysis
How to convey findings from a realist evaluation
