This one-day training will provide an overview of the philosophy, principles and practice of Realist Methodology. Participants will explore the logic behind realist thinking and the contribution it makes to research. This workshop is suitable for those new to the methodology or who are contemplating how it could be used, as well as those who are currently working on realist projects.
Content covers (but not limited to):
Overview of principles and philosophy pertaining to Realist Methodology;
Understanding ‘Initial Programme Theories (IPTs)’ and the ‘theory-testing approach’;
Defining ‘context’ ‘mechanism’ and ‘outcome’ for CMO configurations;
Envisioning steps involved in realist project design, data collection, and analysis.
